An update from Richard Mortimer, Chair of the NEP Board:
“After a transformative period with Northern Endurance Partnership (NEP), our Managing Director, Rich Denny, has made the decision to step down from his role at the end of this year, choosing to devote more time to his family and personal commitments.
“Rich has led NEP through a defining period in our journey, and I know he is proud of what we have achieved in that time. What started as an ambitious vision has become tangible progress, with NEP establishing itself as a leading force in the UK’s carbon transport and storage industry. Through his leadership, determination and belief in what our infrastructure can achieve, Rich has helped move NEP from planning and possibility to delivery and action.
“During his tenure, NEP has reached a number of significant milestones, from helping to transform and reenergise Teesside’s industrial landscape, to the successful drilling of our first exploration well, and the commencement of offshore construction in the Southern North Sea. These are achievements that will leave a legacy, not only for NEP but for the wider CCS industry.
“But those who have worked alongside Rich will know that his impact goes far beyond project milestones. He has brought people together around a shared purpose, building strong relationships with colleagues, partners, customers, regulators and stakeholders. His ability to unite people behind a common goal has helped create a culture of collaboration, ambition and delivery that continues to define NEP today.
“At its heart, NEP’s mission has always been about making a difference. While our work focuses on building carbon transport and storage infrastructure, the real purpose is helping to create a cleaner future, supporting industry, and delivering lasting benefits for communities across Teesside and the Humber. This vision has moved significantly closer to reality under Rich’s leadership. Similarly, NEP has continued to support the transition of the UK’s domestic CCS market. NEP’s delivery on Teesside makes that market more self-sustainable, whilst building investor confidence, supporting future investment, and strengthening the UK’s position as a global leader in the sector.
“The progress we have made has only been possible because of the dedication of many talented people across NEP and our partner organisations. Rich has and continues to be an important part of that story, helping to inspire teams and guide us through some of our most significant moments.
“Rich will continue to lead NEP through this transition period, working closely with the Board to ensure an orderly handover. Details of his successor will be announced at the appropriate time.
“As we move forward, and thanks to Rich, the foundations have been laid, the vision is becoming reality, and NEP is well positioned for the journey ahead.”
